What did we find on this server?

The file is called cache-sync. It sits under /var/tmp/.cache/ on a Linux server that handles customer document exports. Earlier that morning, network monitoring recorded an outbound connection to a destination the operations team did not recognize. The administrator looking into the alert found the file and sent it to the security team with a short question: “Could this be what sent the data?”
